I've been running 5W-40 Valvoline SynPower + MotorKote in my '89 350 for about 20k miles now with no issues or leaks. That is when the engine went in though, already had 145k on it but all the gaskets and such were replaced at that time. Going to synthetic is amidst the first things I do when I get a new vehicle. I read these stories of people going 300k with their 5.7's and so I'm hoping mine will make it that far as well.
