Umm.. This is the first thread I've made on this problem.

Anyway, most of the ones in my local junkyard are newer. 96, 97, 98. What years will work in my 94? Even if I don't get one from this jumkyard, knowing the year span fitment will help searching E-bay, etc.

Thanks!

Really?

Ok, thanks. That's a bummer, as there's several 96. 97 speedos in my junkyard here, but no 92-94's.

They look the same. Do you know what is different? How does the switch from OBD1 to OBD2 affect the speedo?

They look no where near the same. Take a good look. The 95-98 lense / frame is round, and deeper on bottom than at top.

the 92-94 is square, and deeper at top than bottom.

the plugs on 92/94 is a square, 95-98 is more oblong

92/94 has a removable prndl indicator set by a cable attached to colum. 95 up is made electronicaly into the cluster.

if u wanted a 95 up speedo. it csn be done. But u gota replace whole dash and do some wire splicing . Im in the process now of doing that minus the speedo cluster

I'm sorry, I'm still confused. Here's why.

The clear face of my cluster was damaged and hard to see through. At this "U-pull it" junkyard, I found a pickup that had the "same" cluster, so I removed the lens, bought it, and installed it on my truck. It fit perfectly. Later, I went back to buy the whole cluster, but when I looked and found the truck is a 1996, decided not to buy it, being worried about year compatibility. There are at two or three other trucks in that yard that have identical clusters, but they are all newer than 1994 so I do not know if they will work.

See the reason for my confusion??

Thanks for helping!
