I don't know how to determine the max legal weight but my current truck weighs 8500lb with my tools in it.

It looks like it has 6 lug wheels and the sticker shows 7200 GVWR so, I'd say it's a light duty 3/4 Ton truck. You'd be overloaded if your tare weight is the same as this truck. I've never really worried too much about being a little overweight but, that's me, YMMV, LOL!

93 should be TBI. Looks like it has been sitting for a while. If I got this, I'd definitely want to do an oil change and replace the belt and hoses, and check the ignition. Good luck, let us know if you get it!

Yeah, that's a 6 lug 2500. I think the only real advantage is the 14 bolt 6 lug rear axle, otherwise is closer to a 1500 than to a 2500. Brakes are bit improved as well...

Just that service truck bed/box I bed is probably pushing the 7200# GVWR, probably empty. I think they are pretty heavy. And I think the 305 was no power house either.

If your truck weighs 8500 lbs with tools and stuff, I'd hold out for a 8 lug 2500+. The GVWR of the 2500 8 lug is 8600 lbs and 9200 lbs for the 3500 srw, at least the 99-00 years.

A big part of why my truck weighs so much is that it is a F350 v10 [emoji90]
That is also why I need something new.

I would figure on changing all fluids and filters and checking all belts and hoses.
On anything over 15 years old I plan on doing all normal maintenance and probably changing all the belts and hoses because I have seen too many engine failures caused by oil lines blowing or overheating.

F350 V10?! So isn't it like a mid-90s or newer?

Not much of a Ford guy, but pretty sure truck you have there is not weak-ling. The V10 have their followers, and I'm sure they have their problems (I mean there's some Ford guys Chevy GMT400s are junk!?), but I think the 90s trucks in general were pretty robust and reliable. The V10 is pretty powerful; I don't know what the numbers were, but I'm pretty sure it was up there with the 6.0 Vortec, 7.4/8.1 Vortec.

Are you sure about this? Are you getting a bargain? Have you checked DFW? I see a lot of GMT400 8 lug trucks for sale pretty cheap regularly.

It is a 2000 and has 250,000 miles with a bad transmission, the engine needs at a minimum heads but likely just a whole new engine and the ac compressor started blowing shrapnel all over the engine bay yesterday. The repair cost for good parts is approaching $10,000. On top of that I hate ford.
