This^^^^ Also I know it sounds dumb but check all your fuses.

Other than that my mind jumps to the pickup coil under the rotor, or maybe the crankshaft position sensor??? Maybe someone else can chime in on that.

But start with the simple stuff first.

Pickup coil does look somewhat rusted and a bit of green patine.

I will check fuses under the dash and firewall tomorrow

Appreciate everyones imput

Where is the computer located?
I checked the ground from the battery to the block and it is still solid.
any other grounds to check?

Computer is located behind the glovebox.

There should be a ground from the back of the passenger side head to the firewall, and then one from the firewall to the frame. That's how my 94' was set-up anyways.

Thermostat housing has grounds attached to it also. At least they are on a '94.
We had the same problem with the above mentioned '94. Turned out to be those grounds at the thermostat housing.

I have located the ground on the thermostat. Looks to be solid still.

I can't seem to locate one from the passenger side head to firewall or firewall to frame?

I'm also about to take the 4 bolts out of the inner glove box to check the computer connection. Never been off road or anything of the sort with this truck but will still check.

Also will check all fuses

Other than buying a distributor to replace the pickup I'm running out of ideas.

Feel around on the back of the passenger side head. There should be a bolt head back there. That's what the ground strap attaches to. I've seen them completely corrode away to where there's nothing left.

If it's not too dark out when I get home I'll try and snap some pics of mine.

That's the bolt on the head. Odd how there's nothing there. Mine goes from there to a stud over by the heater core hoses. Then another strap goes from there down to a bolt on the frame.

It goes to a stud under the right heater hose. Sorry couldn't get a better angle for a pic.

Then goes from that stud down to here on the frame

On my 96' the straps were completely gone. I couldn't find actual straps to replace them with so I used 4 GA battery cable. Works just fine. Or you can PM Mean Green on here and he can make you a set.

Truck is back up and running strong. It was distributor pickup.

I'll be replacing more stuff as time goes on.

Thank you everyone who helped!
