The truck sounds alot better when its at lower RPMs. I don't even know why GM made it shift so high, it stops making power below 4,000 RPM, and it shifts around 5,000 RPM.
I think its pretty quick for what it is, I'd say its on par with a stock 305 or maybe a worn out 350.

yeah my 4.3 s10 moved pretty good for a stock truck. i have no problem with that motor and would completley agree on it hanging with a 305 tbi but the vortec may be a different story. either way its a pretty impressive little motor to me!

I don't think my truck would win against a stock Vortec 305. It would be close.
One day I'll rebuild the 262 for a little more power, but for now its mostly stock. I plan on taking it an 1/8 mile track next month, I might race a friends truck. He's got a stock '89 C1500 RCLB, with 3.42s, 265/75s, 700R4, 305, and glasspacks. Even if he didn't have taller tires, my truck would more than likely win. But I'm not sure if it will work out, I might end up racing my sister's '98 Mustang GT, I won't have a chance at winning.

Wow, for a V6 that thing is pretty quick. Good job on that man.
