93 Blazer hunting idle and misfire

Ok... after a day of messing with this pos we discovered a couple things. first the Map Sensor. It wasn’t plugged in properly. It was plugged in far enough that the clip retained it, but when it was last plugged in by my buddy, the waterproof ring bunched up on the back side making an open...

93 Blazer hunting idle and misfire

My buddy is supposed to bring the truck over tomorrow (today by the time you read this) and I will see. I don’t remember my scan tool showing MAP voltage, but it may just be on a different screen. My LTFT and STFT on this truck are 4 pages apart... that is really convenient for troubleshooting...

93 Blazer hunting idle and misfire

The engine is commanding full fuel available with the LTFT being pegged to 138 which is max for this engine. Even at 138 fuel trims, the O2 still remains lean more than rich. On the document I read on the function of the MAP for this truck, the voltage decreases as vacuum increases. So...

93 Blazer hunting idle and misfire

Injector dribble was fixed. I do not live at a high enough altitude to not read any vacuum. Sea level describes where I live the best. will try the booster, it is still the factory unit on the truck.

93 Blazer hunting idle and misfire

I did forget to mention that the CTS is reading right on, I doubled checked coolant temps with the reading on my scan tool. I have found some diagnostic information on the MAP and the reading being 29.8 in hg could be an open circuit or bad sensor. When the vacuum goes up the voltage goes down...

93 Blazer hunting idle and misfire

Bear with me here, it’s long I know but I have done quite a bit so far, and I wanted to be thorough on what’s going on and what’s been done. So here is the scenario. 1993 Blazer 350 TBI. New engine about 2 years ago. Edelbrock intake, OEM TBI module, just rebuilt with new injectors, new Idle...

    TBI 454, no guts...

IT sounds like the timing curve is not right for your engine. I am curious as to what the advance is on the new chip. As said above I would check with the chip guy. Massey

did my 411 swap but i get these codes what can i deleat

TO get everything to work right simply get a tune on your PCM and have it programed to accept the readings with the gears and boost. THe TCL is not working because of the incorrect readings of the output shaft speed and engine load readings. This is really common with modified Camaros and...

    Necessary to re-align?

I would double check the ball joints and other steering goodies while you are tinkering as they all play in the alignment process and some shops charge you for a partial alignment even if they dont do it due to damaged parts. This is usually waived if you allow them to replace the parts but...

Electrical Problem: Starter, Engine Dieing, & More

IM leaning in for the grounds being bad (ie loose) or your power feed to the Alternator is not tight. Make sure you also eliminate the corrosion on the cables as a little of that goes a long way when it comes to the electrical system. The issue with the right turn signal sounds like a short, a...

Mechanical (double pumper) vs vacuum secondaries

I'm a fan of the edelbrock carbs but the 1406 is too small for your engine. It also is not a vacuum secondary, it is mechanical with an air flow valve that upends up some jets inside based on the amount of air entering the secondaries. This system helps save fuel when running wide throttle and...

    Weird dying problem

I am going to guess by looking at some pics of your truck in your build thread that it is a TBI engine. The first thing I would look at would be the spray pattern of the injectors. You should get a nice misty cone shape at all throttle postitions. Higher revvs will narrow the cone but it...

    Notching frame

That part of the frame you can heat and cut to your heart's content. This is outside the crumple zone, the GMT400 frames were also made with high carbon steel which can be heated without ill effects so long as you dont quench it when you cool it. GM's guidelines on this frame was no heating of...

GMT800 SUV Rear suspension in a GMT400 Truck

Yea I'm not interested in moving my fuel tank which would be required to make a long arm setup like NASCAR or 60-72 Chevys have. Triangulated arms like the A and G bodies have could work but I dont like that setup on a truck. So I guess that leaves me with a 4 link system or for me to just...

Engine won't crank over. Smoke coming from pos. batt terminal.

THe purple wire is the wire that goes to the ignition switch and the sensor plug you have in your hand looks alot like the knock sensor plug. Massey

GMT800 SUV Rear suspension in a GMT400 Truck

Thanks for the inputs guys. I will look into the truck arms as this is what I want. I plan on eventually installing a LS3 (or the iron block) engine, some juice and try and get the truck around 12.5 in the 1320... But that is a ways down the road. Massey

GMT800 SUV Rear suspension in a GMT400 Truck

Hey guys, I have not been around much as the web filter at work has killed this site until just reciently. Anyhoo I have an itching to make my truck handle better, and here are my ideas I want to run by you guys. First off I had a 2004 and 2006 Avalanche which had much better handling than my...

    Massey's 98. "Jessie"

OK I just upgraded the radiator to the heavy duty cooling rad. The core is much larger than the factory single core unit and all and all the truck seems to be doing better. After a few trips now in it I smell antifreeze again but I dont see any. So far no noticable loss of coolant. I have no...

i cant seem to find anything about this!

OK I just skimmed this thread and I did not hear any one mention about the intake bolting up different. The Vortec heads only use 4 bolts per side where the TBI engines use 6. This means you are not going to get proper sealing in the middle of the intake, without using a designed for Vortech...

    PowerTorque Reman engines

I work for O'Reilly and I have worked for CSK before it was bought out. To be honest with you I would also not buy a PT engine. CSK would use local engine rebuilders, who in most cases had a reputation to cover and not a large corporate contract to keep them in business. When we were CSK only...
