Haven't posted up in a long while. I also haven't rebuilt the front end yet. Our house build kicked off in late February with the (loooong) driveway being cut in. Last week they started framing. Ordered a red iron building. I still don't have a plan for getting it put up as money is tight...

jgreen16, I believe the wheel base is 168.5 inches, but I'll have to measure to double check. I know with my 18' trailer hitched up, combined they are right at 48' long. Being a 4x4, the turning radius is that of a freight train.

Thanks 94K3500PROJECT. I foolishly thought I'd have the front end rebuilt with brake upgrade way before now. Haven't happened yet. Fall weather is rolling in, cold and short days. Looks like I'll be working on it in the cold and dark. Just what I was hoping to avoid. Just being busy with...

Thanks Eric, I appreciate your input. By chance do you have a lot of experience with the 6.5TD? Thanks again.

A couple weeks back the oil pressure sensor failed, no lift pump; 6.5TD. Happy to get home, but hate that the injector pump had to pull its own fuel. With that fixed, I'm wonder if the lift pump is getting weak. I attached a new, cheap fuel pressure gauge to the fuel drain line, and at idle...

Thanks for the compliment, I appreciate it. I try to include all details on the chance it helps someone. Plus, I can look back on it later when I've forgotten what I've done. I know I get long-winded and I apologize for that. 8) I purchased my OBS in 2007, took me a year to find it. I do...

I went with the Odyssey ODX-AMG-34/78 battery. It has both side terminals and top posts, and for some reason they were $16 cheaper each, so $32 saved between the two. I figure the top posts will come in handy if I ever replace the factory cables; I prefer top posts. Plus, they make it easier...

Thanks for asking. Factory cables. All connections are clean and tight. The rubber insulators on the cable ends show their age, but generally in good repair. I have considered replacing them, and will if I can't resolve the issue otherwise. Saturday I pulled the batteries out and had them...

Kicked on the parking lights Wednesday evening and I had none. No parking and no gauge lights. The headlight switch is a year or two old and is an ACDelco replacement unit. I checked fuses and the courtesy (#4) and the running lamps (#9 IIRC) were not blown and not getting power. I pulled...

    What is that part called?

I haven't cracked open a Chilton manual in years, but IIRC they had a section on general maintenance and basic troubleshooting. If you haven't already, give those a look. Ensuring the basics are in good working order will mean you are not chasing multiple problems that are stacking up and...

    LCAs hitting spindles.

It's 2WD, coil spring, correct? Wondering if she's sitting/riding a little lower than stock and therefore loosing some space in between the LCA and the spindle. Did the coil spring get clocked correctly when it went back in? Or was there originally an isolator on top of the spring that was...

Scored some Chevrolet center caps. Took a little trimming on the backside to get them to fit properly, but I'm happy with them. By coincidence, the color is nearly a perfect match to the rims, which I had powder coated earlier this year. There is a different factory center cap I had in mind...

One last master cylinder note on bleeding. This crossed my mind while laying in bed and I wanted to mention it as it might help someone else. Once I thought the hydraulic clutch was fully bled, I tried one last thing. With the slave cylinder unbolted from the transmission, I pushed like heck...

Of course 13 months after the 12 month warranty ran out, the hydraulic clutch master sprung a leak. I was happy/lucky to limp it home from the gym. Tired of what parts stores sell now days, I turned to feebay and found a GM original master and slave. I'm also tired of that molded...

The '08 hub extensions are shorter than my factory '95 hub extensions. IIRC '95 hub extensions are about 4-1/16", and the '08 extensions are 3-13/16". Stacked together with the '05 spindle and old hub, old brake rotor, and '08 hub extension, a rough measurement shows the over-all length is...

Found a pair of dually 4x4 hub extensions off an '08 on feebay; ordered them today. If the new ACDelco hubs ever ship, I'll find out the hard way if they all bolt up. I might get the donor spindles and caliper mounts blasted and powder coated. If I do, I'll see about getting the hub...

Thanks. Another piece of the brake upgrade puzzle I'm trying to figure out is the calipers. I found ACDelco part numbers (L&R) for front brake calipers for the 9k pound chassis, and another set of part numbers for the 12k pound chassis. Could not find any specs as to what the differences are...

Thanks. The old 6.5TD. Took me a year to find this truck as I wanted the crew cab with the dually, diesel, 4x4, and manual. I don't have any production numbers, but it was hard to find. I looked for the better part of a year for the factory 17" rims. Every once in awhile a set would pop up...

Right now I'm collecting parts for a front brake upgrade. Going to use GMT800 dually brakes. Rebuilding the front suspension at the same time. Some parts are on order, need to find out the rest. Here is a question that I'm praying someone can answer. Want to switch to the newer dually hub...

Finally working on some changes for my dually. Last summer I got the seats switched out. The front vinyl bench was replaced with a pair of factory-ish cloth buckets and console. I've always wanted a console. Best change ever. For the fronts I used the bottom frames from a pair of Burb...

Tires for OEM Dually 17" Steelies

Thanks B. If anybody is running these rims, I'd love to hear from you. On paper everything should fit just fine, but confirmation would put my mind at ease. I'll post up my results once I have them bolted on myself. Thanks.

Tires for OEM Dually 17" Steelies

Looked high and low for an existing thread to ask this question on. Couldn't find one. I apologize if I missed it. Figured I'd start a new one. This is for my '95 K3500 dually. To get away from the chrome wheel covers (impossible to reach valve stems) I am moving to the '08-'10 factory...

    My squarebody

If you guys don't mind, here is a pic of my brother's '86 Cab & Chassis...use to be mine. Love this old truck. It weighs roughly 5,500 pounds, and once we hauled 5,500 pounds to the dump. It was just barely starting to touch on the front of the overload springs. Being a cab & chassis truck...

No overdrive in freshly rebuilt 700r4

After you try everything you can, as a last option have the rebuild guy take a look at it. I had a similar situation once. The rebuild shop accidentally left one of the check balls out. Best of luck with it. Hopefully it is something simple.

Nice rig. I like how you are running tons. If I was a rich man, I'd have a full-size square body Burb (dually). Are the rear disc brakes front Chevy calipers?
