    1988 c1500 5.7 swap

I may be wrong on this, but if I remember right, the early TBI motors were still considered a gen2 small block. That being said, the gen2 small block started in the late 50s I think. Any bare block should work for you. You'll just have to reuse the heads and intake unless you run a carb...

What type of fluid in a 1998 Chevrolet Silverado Z71 transfer case

It depends on which tcase you have. If it's the NP243, then tranny fluid will work, if it's the NP246, you need the autotrac fluid available at the dealer. Easy way to tell, do you have the Auto4wd button? If yes, 246, if no, 243. I have the 246 and went through all this myself recently.

    Fuel Pump Noise

I've got a 98 K1500 Sub with the noisy pump. I've had it for 3 years and just over 45k. It's been noisy since I got it. I had the same fears when I first got it and didn't drive more than about 30 miles away from home for the first year. I started getting used to it and not worrying as much...

    Turbo 400 to 700r4

You'll need a TV (throttle valve I think) cable and there is a vacuum adapter for the lockup torque converter so OD will work properly and not burn up the trans. I've been looking at converting a th350 to 700r4. You may be able to reuse the crossmember, not sure of the length, but you should...

    This makes me sick!

I gotta agree with RyanMerrik on this. While I wouldn't do it either, I'm sure there are mods that have been done to vehicles on this site that other people don't like, to include my own truck. It's his truck and he built it the way he wanted it. As for the 454SS, I think any mods done to...

Lower control arms rubbing on brake rotors

I don't know about anyone else, but it looks like the ball joint isn't fully seated to me. I don't think it'll make a difference to the OP though. Looks like he put up the pics and got butt hurt and left because no one responded soon enough.

It does. Thanks!! That sounds alot easier and cleaner than what I was thinking about doing. I was trying to figure out something using a ubolt.

    Update. Thoughts?

Good looking Tahoe!! Looks like you left the factory roof rails, how did you attach the roof rack? I'm wanting to build one myself, just haven't quite figured out that part yet.

New and Old all at the same time

Welcome!! Clean truck, and cool story to go with it. The Malibu in my sig has a very similar story. Bought new for Mom, I got it when I turned 16 (I'm the oldest), then it went to both my little sisters and got a little refurbish before going to my baby brother. He got a new ride and I got...

    Hummer 4l80e and 1995 k3500

The regular hummers we had had no park, but the up armored ones did. At least from what I remember. Most of the regular ones we had were a little older though.

    Hummer 4l80e and 1995 k3500

I think you're on to something. I was in the guard for a while, but the only knowledge I have of working on a humvee was when we would check the fluids, look for leaks, and drive them. They do all look alike and that makes sense that the military would do that to make field repairs easier. Be...

Oil pump problem and vanishing oil HELP???

If you don't see any leaks on the ground, that kind of rules out the rear main. At least in my opinion. You say it's not burning it off either, so no bluish white smoke then. The only other thing I can think of is an oil cooler. If your truck is equipped with the cooler from the factory, it...

    92 Camaro RS

I can't speak to the OPs reasons, but if done right, it should increase the power band within each gear. I had a friend who had a 454 with a 396 crank. It would redline at 7500 and outrun just about any other vehicle around. It gave him a wider, and smoother powerband. Not to mention it...

Window doesn't go down but I hear clicking

Just saw this, otherwise I would have said something sooner. Where is the clicking sound coming from? Mine used to make a clicking sound in the door. The window would go down a couple inches, stop, and start the sound. I could push it down a little and the motor would take over again. I...

    88 CHEVY C-1500 ALIGNMENT PROBLEM

I second this. I had a similar issue with an old Camaro I had. I took it in for an alignment and the guy at the shop caught it. If I remember correctly, when you turn, the tire to the inside of the turn is supposed to turn a little tighter than the outside tire, helping you turn sharper...

    impossible np243 problem

Could be the TCCM, but have you verified it's a 243 tcase? There is a tag on the rear that as the model. Only reason I ask is the switch in the pic is for a 246 tcase. That's what I have in my 98 'burb. Now it needs to be stated that I'm not very educated on the differences between the 2...

    crate motor options

I thought there was a decent hot rod shop down there in CC. I remember someone telling me about it, but I can't remember the name. That would be my first choice though. Find someone local to build it for you.
