Kinda funny but in reality it's not, have seen crap like this come into the bodyshop, dangerous falling apart crap done by not only the diy'ers, some came out of other bodyshops.

Hilarious, "structural booger welds"

people don't understand you pull in a shop with something sketchy structurally, they have every right to not let you drive away in it.

Western NY? I know where that is!
Rochester here.
Great advice here. My '88 GMC mud truck has exact same cracks and this summer is my time for said repairs.

It is easy. Drill the ends, V the crack, lay in some beads, grind smooth, plate the inside. It'll be stronger than the rivets its all held together with.
In that sense it might be easy for a pro, and I agree that it'll be stronger if done correctly, but it's something that needs to be addressed by a pro, not your half drunk buddy who is a YouTube certified "fabricator"...

Hello everyone! My name is Charles Tiranno and I own a 1996 Chevy Silverado. I bought the truck about a year ago and the truck was originally from North Carolina. The guy that I got the truck from daily drove it just as I do, but the problem is, is that I live in western New York aka the salt belt. The frame over all has been solid and in decent shape for a New York truck. Today I was looking at the truck and a spot caught my eye. On the rear driver side by the gas tank there seems to be a crack in the frame. I will add a picture so everyone can see, but basically I want to know if it can be fixed at all or if I should just enjoy the truck while I have it or part ways with it. Overall the truck has been awesome to me and I don’t necessarily want to lose it. Any help or ideas are appreciated thank you guys!
