When I was a newborn I couldn't do real milk or my mom's milk so they tried just about everything, I almost had my own goat because I wasn't allergic to it. That was about the time that soy came out in formulas. I wasn't allergic to that, so that's what they got me. As I got older, I still couldn't handle regular milk but I could handle that powdered crap. I still have a hard time with straight milk, but I can do cheese and ice cream without any issue. My family has nicknamed me "the rat" because of my love of cheese, especially pepper jack.
