I just went out to the shop, I have a '97 5.7 on the stand. That ground stud has 3/8x16 threads on both ends and takes a 9/16" wrench on both the stud and the nut. My '98 suburban has the uss and metric combo stud.

It’s like my distributor hold down nut. A friend who’s a semi-retired mechanic kept telling me it’s 1/2 and not 13mm. Finally, I told him to try his 1/2 Snap-On distributor wrench, nope, he couldn’t get it on. I handed him a 13mm. :D

I believe my (99 454) fan clutch studs are like that, although, I don't know the sizes. I was going to try to replace them, last time I had it apart, and all I could find was SAE that would be for your standard SBC of years past.

water pump and intake and a lot of internal fasteners of the 3800 are SAE

So 3/8 and 1/2 or else you will probably round the 3/8 for sure with a 10mm and probably make swiss-useable-cheese of the 1/2 bolts with a 13mm.
