Update:
Received new Ignition Control Module. It came with some thermal compound but I used some CPU thermal compound I had.

I noticed the old ignition module had a heat mark on the backside? To the left of the S. It wouldn’t clean off with 91% rubbing alcohol. There was a good amount of thermal paste on the old module AND where the aluminum heat sink bolts up to the steel bracket.

I noticed my few year old ACDELCO coil is loose within itself. The bolts are tight where it attaches to bracket. See video link

Haven’t drove and gotten it good and hot to see if problem is resolved. Will try and do that soon.

Rockauto delivered in 2 days when it was supposed to take a week [emoji106]

I need to get the bracket from a 350, and see if I can find a good spot to mount it that's more accessible. It's on the back of the intake on my 454, and is very inconvenient to reach.

Oh wow, that's cool..... I had no idea it was still availble new. I figured I'd have to go to the salvage yard to get one..... still might do that since I'd get the ICM and coil, but a new one is a great option should the yard decide it's made of gold.

Edit: Actually looking closer at it, isn't there another piece I'd need for the ICM and heat sink?

Edit2: Yup, that part is only 1/2 of it, unfortunetly.

I'd lean towards fuel, but my experience is with my 454.... ended up being the pump. I went for a few years with a hard to re-start issue, thinking it was my injectors, only to have the problem almost entirely go away when I replaced the fuel pump. The rest of the issue went away when I replaced my starter. I suppose you could also have a spider injection issue, but I have no expereince withe them.

I'd get a fuel pressure gage on the truck, if you haven't done that already.

Well its happened again. Does not cut out when running and 100 degree temps outside like before. If you shut truck off and let it sit for 5 - 20 minutes it won't restart or will start, fire and die. If I can dance with the pedal enough to keep it going once it comes back to idle it runs great and can idle in 100 degree heat along with hundreds of highway miles no problem runs great. Issue is when you shut off truck and go to restart when its 100 outside and engine is heat soaked.

Some googling has convinced me the crankshaft position sensor could be the culprit since they are known to act up intermittently when heat soaked. My truck has the original crankshaft position sensor, distributor, and camshaft position sensor. I pulled my crank sensor, no shim and no marks from sensor contacting the reluctor.

Looking at Crank position sensors. Lots of brands and lots of mixed reviews. "They're all china junk" Worked for a year then died, died after 1 week, etc.

AcDelco, ACDelco gold, Spectera premium, Delphi, Standard products economy, standard products w 36 month warranty?

Will probably order from RockAuto since several Amazon reviews mention fake packaging and crap sensors.

I’ve got this same issue going on with a new engine. You ever have any luck with a fix?

Do you have spark when restarting after 5--20 minutes?

Do you have fuel pressure when restarting after 5--20 minutes?

Does the scan tool show RPM when cranking during re-start?
