I was running the FAST EZ EFI 2.0 with a fast dual sync distributor for timing, a fast ignition and a TCI tranny controller, I left the stock tbi ECU in so my stock guages work(voltage, engine temp, & oil pressure), just cut off the garbage I didn't need, don't bother trying to integrate them, you'll need 2 engine temp sensors, one for the stock guage and one for the aftermarket ECU, most aftermarket manifolds have spots for this so its easy. It was a bit fiddly to figure out but worked fine. The self tunning takes a while to get the engine running good and limits what type of tuning you can do but its relatively easy. You might be OK running the stock tranny controller in yours being a 93 like Derek above, 94 & 95 are full electronic so I had to run aftermarket

Had an engine fire last winter (ignition lead), so now i've tossed the distubutor, ignition, and fast ECU, keeping the fast throttle body and TCI tranny controller, installed a crank trigger ignition, LS style coil packs and am going to try to run a fully laptop tunned megasquirt MS3pro, but I have a ton of wiring to re-do

A buddy of mine is just finishing off a superchanged LS swapped 78 chev with the holley efi system, I'll pick his brain on how it does for tuning when he gets it on the road

The stock ECM is not needed for the gauges or the ABS. Gauges come straight from the sending units mounted on the engine. Speedo and ABS speed signals come from the DRAC or VSSB. Cruise control also gets its VSS speed signal from the DRAC or VSSB and is self contained electronically. If you trace back the harness you can remove it all.

yeah I wasn't sure how everything worked with the stock ECU so I left it, didn't want check engine light, or limp mode ect, the shop that finished it for me couldn't get the stock ECU to properly control the tranny without the standard engine inputs so had to go aftermarket which was the biggest hickup.

I just put a fitech system on my 92. The factory computer is still hooked up controlling the timing. My trans is a 700r4 so it's not completely computer controlled if at all.

As far as what kind of hp numbers, I don't know what it makes and dont really care but I can say it runs awesome. My motor is a 355 with pro comp aluminum heads 2.02 1.60 valves comp cam part # 08-413-8

My mechanic has done quite a few Sniper units and he says they work fantastic, its just the $$$$ part that's keeping me from it, mine also is the 700r4 trans so that's houldnt be a problem.
I would love to do one but is the darned money, as usual

Hello, What intake are you running? What type of tune are you running for stock ECM ( Main Spark Table)? Are you using HP Tuner or Tuner Pro ? Can you data log with both? Fitech System and stock ECM?

No tune, my intake manifold is an air gap from assault racing, similar to a edelbrock performer rpm air gap. Just last week I changed my distributor to an HEI so the stock ecm isn't doing anything now.

How is the timing now. What chip and ECM ,before Distributor swap?
