In the process of replacing my rotted rear brake line and fuel lines I had a couple of the plastic tube clamps break off that support the lines. I'm not too worried about it as there plenty of clamps/clips stillbholding the lines, but does anyone know of a source to get them for replacement...
The steel rear brake line blew out on my k1500 (Reg cab, long box), so tonight I crawled underneath to start removing it and to figure out the best way to repair. After studying the line and the routing it became apparent that I'm going to need to also replace the fuel lines that run alongside...
Thanks Wally.
One update: I got the used transmission installed, but I found out the hard way that the older style nv3500's connected up differently to the shifter than the one in my 95. Not sure what year this replacement tranny is from, but I thought the guy said it was from a 91. I called...
I'm not sure if driveshafts fit under the Axles/Brakes section, the Transmission section, or the Transfer Case section, so if it goes elsewhere please kindly advise.
I'm trying to replace the U-joints on the front and rear driveshafts in my K1500 since they were stiff as a board when I...
Thanks Heavychevy98. That does make sense.
MisterM, it sounds to me like your clutch isn't fully disengaging, so the gears are still moving somewhat when you put it in reverse. I'm no transmission expert obviously, but based on Heavychevy98's explanation, there should be no movement of the...
Wow thanks for the quick replies guys! Much appreciated. I will be putting in the new trans next week, provided I can get the seals and other parts I need in time. I'll try to update the thread when everything is done.
Thanks for the info. I'll order up the new seals. I've got a big order going at Rock Auto for other problems I've found during the process of pulling the tranny that need to be fixed. Driveshaft U-joints are stiff as a board, and the input shaft seal on the transfer case is shot--bunch of fluid...
Thanks. I did end up getting it. It seems to spin very easily in all gears, with very little play in the gears. Is it difficult to replace the input/output shaft seals? Would you recommend I do it before installing the transmission, or is there an easy way to tell if they are in good condition?
^^^ Agreed. I had the same issue with a manual shift car and found found shifting into 1st gear directly prior to putting in reverse resulted in a smooth shift every time, and it has held true for every stick shift vehicle I've driven, including my '95 k1500.
Can anyone with more transmission...
Last week I was towing a small trailer with my garden tractor on it (fairly light load), when a pop came from the tranny area and I lost all power to the wheels. No matter which position the shifter was in (even neutral) it would make a humming/buzzing sound as soon as the clutch was released...
