93 K1500 Intermittent Instrument Cluster Lights and Tail Lights

Hello All, I'm hoping you guys can point me in the right direction on what to probe to find out what's causing my intermittent electrical issue. Electrical is not my strong suit. I have a 93 K1500 ECSB, pulled out the factory instrument cluster and put in the Dakota Digital VHX cluster. It's...

    1995 silverado k1500 4x4 noise

I had this exact issue. I wanted to rebuild my transfer case anyway since it (and front diff) were the last things I needed to work on to have a completely rebuilt drivetrain. Found all kinds of damage in my case, including a broken output shaft snap ring (also called a bearing retainer). I...

    400 vs newer

^ This is one reason. -I now own '93 pickup with about 2k miles on the rebuilt drivetrain and no payments. -I remember the 90's fondly. The GMT800 arrived about when the testosterone and bonehead decisions kicked in. -These trucks are just going to get cooler and cooler

    torsion bars wore out?

I had to use my plumber roommate's roto-hammer to pop my bars loose. "Snug" is an understatement. Rebuilt the LCAs and put some anti-seize in the hex holes. I'm running 315 70r17s as well. Had to shave a little bumper/wheel well along with keeping a good crank on the bars. PO already had a...

    1992 7.4 Oil?

I've been seeing videos on YT about this engine for a while. It hasn't made it to market yet, I imagine they're still trying to work out kinks... but it looks neat, simple, and powerful. Achates 3cyl opposed piston engine. 2 stroke, no valvetrain. They claim their 2.7L puts out 270HP/480ft-lbs...

    Leaky slip yoke question

K1500 yoke here. Xfer case is rebuilt with new seals. Slow leak.. and every time I look under there, I see drops of ATF hanging from the end of the yoke where the U-joint caps are embedded. Case and output shaft seal look dry. Appalachian engineered fix is to clean the outside of the yoke...

    Np 243 tranfer case issue

Hey Murphy, I just did my 241 and I had the clunk in reverse as well (transfer case would pop into neutral). Pretty sure it was the busted factory output shaft snap ring that was allowing the whole shaft to slide about 1/4" back and forth inside the transfer case. From what I hear, your 243 is...

    97 5.7 vortec

400 HP is going to cost you some money unless you really know what you're doing (including hunting down deals) and can work some mechanical alchemy. Not to mention.. $1000 really isn't that much money in 2023. Hooray for fake, fiat currency! Knowing what I learned from my first build.. I...

    NP241 opened up.. few questions..

Well, it looks like I'll be dealing with the slow leak out the back even with the new output shaft seal. (Could have avoided this with the SYE kit.. but I didn't want to deal with that) So I will be checking xfer case fluid level frequently. Anyone know how low it can get before parts start...

    Daily truck pics

Finished the interior, engine bay pic, redid the front end suspension, stripped all the paint and primered it.

    Daily truck pics

Ok. I've chronicled most of it. What I purchased in June of 2021, and the beginning of the work, staring with ripping out the interior. Rebuilt the 350 with a Vortec top end (kept it TBI)

    Daily truck pics

Finally got the rig registered and insured this morning after 25 months of working on it and no daily driver in my name for the majority of the time. Check out the odometer reading from when I got back from the insurance office. Another thanks to all you guys!

    NP241 opened up.. few questions..

Update. Rebuilt case went back in a few hours ago. Filled it up. No leaks. Fired up the truck and tested reverse. No more clunking! Case shifts into and out of all four positions easily. Next step will be the actuator upgrade and front diff flush. Thanks for all the help guys!

Thank you. It looks like all 3 keys were missing from the brass ring. Found one on the magnet and the other two were destroyed. Ordered a new synchro, sleeve, and key/lock ring kit... among other stuff.

    NP241 opened up.. few questions..

Ok, I have this thing mostly disassembled, pretty sure I have found all the broken stuff. Gonna need new fork pads (the pads on the small fork were almost non-existent). 4WD Actuator Switch has a bent pin smashed down flat in the connector. Oil pump is destroyed. (The debris I found on the...
