Well just an update. I found out the shifter tower that bolts to the top of the trans was worn out and had too much slop. The gears were not meshing properly due to the slop. I used the other tower that came with the trans I bought. All is good and has been good. No more funky noise between shifts.
Picking up an NV3500 today locally for 100 bucks. Gonna tear it down and rebuild it then swap it in the truck. I will have a look at the throw out bearing and pilot bushing while I'm in there. Also wanna see if there are any bad marks on the clutch and FW.
Anyone installed and running the Belltech wishbone rear suspension kit with coil overs? Was doing some research on it yesterday at work and watched some videos. Looks nicer than a 4 link setup. Price ain't too bad either for a 4 corner kit.
That 305 can be woken up. I had a 305 TPI in my 91' Z28. I replaced all the bearings, gaskets and seals. It was a roller motor. I used my dremel and on both the intake and exhaust ports removed the metal where the gasket left the mark. Port matching will wake that lil motor up. I also lapped the...
I have a 91' with a carb'd 350 mildly built. NV3500 bolted right up to the 2 piece rear main block. Like mentioned above you need the tach wire, and power wire to the dizzy. I removed the PCM a few years ago as it's not needed. All my gauges and speedo work. I did try running the fitech crap and...
Sounds more like a screaching sound. Yes you can run an engine without the valve covers. Those clips over the pushrods help keep the oil from spitting out at you. Low oil pressure is from bearing clearances too much, the drive rod for the oil pump not long enough or engaged properly with the...
Yes I meant synchro's. A brand new throw out bearing can go bad that fast huh? Probably only 300-400 miles on it. Also wouldn't it do it all the time if the throw out bearing was bad? I will test the synchro's like you mentioned.
So the 5 speed gets grouchy when the clutch is pushed in between 1st and 2nd gear. Kinda like a grinding noise but goes away when letting off the clutch. Don't do it all the time tho. So I'm thinking the servo's are worn out and looking to rebuild the transmission myself. Who here has done it...

These will fit. Just cut the flanges between the piping and they will go right in. I've been running a set in my 91' for the last 4 years.
I would be pulling the starter back off the motor and have a look. Sounds like it might not be disengaged fully and the gears are tapping each other. If the noise wasn't there before the starter swap then that's where I would be looking.
