yes i would go with the blueprint engines crate motor.If you're looking at crate motors, Blueprint Engines puts together a pretty good 383 for less than a HT383. My TBI replacement 383 isn't wild by any means, but still puts out 280 HP / 400 TQ.

you could get the specs on the ht-383 motor and have a machine shop do the block and then just build it from there. i believe its a crank from a 400c.i. its hard getting the vortec fuel/intake system to put up good numbers. the motor and heads are great. the ht-383 is the best i have seen but its a steep price tag. if you have a 4l60e you might wanna upgrade that as well because she doesent like that kind of powerI still wanted to remain a Vortec engine tho
