i can easily take a full day detailing a truck, wash it, dry, then hand wax out side, ( we dont have a buffer and it would just take all the clear off of our truck) then polish the wheels, shine tires, then go to inside, it doesnt sound like much, but if you use the compounds and do it in the steps it will take all day, and maybe 2 depending on how late you feel like staying up and what time you start

Oh wow holy ****! I don't remember you having this truck but that is exactly what I am going for. Do I have to have a porter cable type polisher where the head actually turns? I just watched a video with the guy talking about how important it is that is turns where as the one I got today just vibrates ya know...I made sure to go up and down and then side to side on mine but I didn't spend a ton of time on a section because it was my first time using this buffer I didn't want to sit there with and burn my paint up ya know? It sounds like I should just slow it down and use a clay bar first this next time. Also, you finished with a polish? I thought the wax was supposed to be the final step?

I washed my pads earlier and I have some polish down in the garage so I'm about to go fire it up and just try it out and really slow it down with the buffer. I'll take some pics and have them up in like 30 mins so stay tuned. I hope I don't need to buy a porter cable or anything. I hope this 30 dollar vibrating buffer I bought today works fine.

This is my passenger side paint from 95 that I freaking compounded and waxed today. In the shade in the daylight it looks "good" but I want all these swirls and scratches gone. This is just from years and years of me drying my truck with a towel I guess. I'm guessing this compound and wax I used today isn't abrasive enough...I really need to figure out wtf to do I'm so confused. Essentially all of my 95 paint looks like that :nono: I want to get this fixed asap. This next weekend I want to get it all done.

and yeah that thing you posted is essentially the same as the buffer I got. I'm thinking I need a more abrasive product and maybe another buffer :)nono:) that actually spins but I sure hope not. I don't mind buying better product but I don't wanna have to buy a $120 porter cable thing.

.

Yep had it before the crew cab, it was my dream truck... A black 98 ecsb 4x4 with the 5.7. But I beat on it hard for the year that I had it and sold it for what I bought it for and it needed a lot of work so it wasn't a big deal.
Your probably right it has been over a year and a half since I did it and I have had a long week which means posts that don't make sense.

Hmm well any ideas guys for what I need to do based on the pictures I provided?

Btw DcZ71 your paint looks perfect. That's how mine looks at certain angles but these fine swirls are still there and there's a million of them...
