I've never in my life seen a camper that light, unless it was a pop-upI was wondering about actual weight on the camper, my buddy just bought a ten footer we put on a 28 foot goose and the tag said 1,800lbs full of water, propane and 75lbs of ice in the fridge is where my guesstimate came from on weight.
You guys don't see 3/4 ton 8 lugs with 3:73's that often??
2 of my 3 (8600GVW) trucks have 3:73 gears, one of which is a 3500 crew cab. Honestly it just may be what I've run into, but most of the 3/4 tons I've seen have been 3:73 gears... for me personally it's harder to find the 4:10's unless it's a dually.
88GMCTruck what gears did your old 6.5 have?
Typically 6.5L trucks are 3.42 or 3.73. Occasionally 4.10s. Gas trucks are most commonly 4.10s, less commonly 3.73s and rarely 4.56.Yeah, to be totally honest, -almost- every single 8 lug 2500 I've ever owned or worked on, 4.10's all day long. The one exception I can recall is a '91 RCLB 350/4L80E that had 3.73's, was a bare bones Cheyenne with a flatbed. On the other hand, all the 6 lug 2500's I see tend to be 3.73's.

I just made a 1,700 mile trip towing 18,000 LBS (truck, 12' camper, 16' car trailer with a CJ5 and Suzuki quad) and got a solid 7 MPG.What type of fuel economy do you guys get towing? I pulled the cats and have it simulated so no check engine light and it all seems to run well but this thing is just a horrible pig on gas!!
We averaged 6.5 mpg pulling a 4k lb jeep on a 2k lb trailer through a mix of hills and flat ground 99% highway.
I had overdrive off the entire time and average speed was 68mph at 2700rpm with the ac on, I'm very disappointed in the horrendous economy and I don't see anyway I'm going to drag the goosneck behind this truck as is I'm lucky to run 50mph at the top of some hills without it being in second gear and 4k+rpm the whole way up them just using an 18 foot bumper pull.
You also have a 454.I've never in my life seen a camper that light, unless it was a pop-up
