ya know that didnt even cross my mind to be honest... my brakes run off that hyrdoboost crap so i was thinkin there wasnt much for vacumm on the truck lol ive got a ton of wd 40 outside i might run out right now and try that lol.

at 11mpg i'm almost ready to junk that dang 454 and put a small block in it. or just sell it and get something that isnt like a boat going down the road lol.

YAHTZEE.. thing i may have found the issue. after half a can of WD and no idle change i grabbed the throttle linkage and romped it a few times and noticed that if i didnt force the linkage back all the way it'd idle high. Now to find a better return spring. so i fixed it with a bungee till i can figure out a better fix. the linkage doesnt seem to unbolt from that Throttle body from what i could see..

it's BLUE....hmmmmm, bad return spring eh? Here's a thought, if it's physically hanging(meaning it's not an electronic/electrical issue and not vac related), ya might check and see if your throttle cable is frayed near the end of the tube it's in. If it's frayed the fibers will cause it to sometimes hang right before idle. I don't know WHY I just thought of that instead of before....I've had a few vehicles get like that in the past, and replacing the cable wasn't too hard. On these trucks especially, it's all pretty much self-explanatory.

If ya get rid of your 454, I'll take it....I got a few trucks with the crappy detroit diesels and I could use dependable replacements.

it def hangs right before idle just enough to make it run higher than a grand

hmm i'll pop it loose tomorrow after work and see what i can figure out. i cant see anything around that area being frayed but if its in a tube like you said i'll look closer tomorrow. the motor has plenty of power for have 220k plus miles. The mileage on it is pretty horrid tho. I didnt think it'd be a ton worse than the trans am but man the car can roll the ac and do burnouts at every light and still sip at 17-19mpg ish lol. Glad i went with 373 gears instead of 4.10 like all the other guys wanted me to.
