Castrol 10W-40 High Mileage in my '96 GMC. Sometimes I switch to 10W-30 in the colder winter months.
Castrol 5W-30 in my wife's '06 Grand Cherokee
Castrol 20W-50 in my '69 GTO
Valvoline 20W-50 motorcycle oil in my '03 Kawasaki 1500 Nomad
The Nomad uses a Kawasaki filter but the rest use Wix filters

The '96 GMC tows 5000 to 6000lbs. at least once a week. I run a heavier oil just for that reason.

Well I'm a brand loyal person with most things. I used to only use Quaker State oil and Fram oil filters. After reading about how cheaply made Fram filters are no matter which one you get I switched to Mobil 1 oil filters. Then I switched to Mobil oil and I'm glad I did. I use 5w30 Mobil 1 full synthetic oil and a Mobil 1 oil filter. With conventional oil I changed it at about every 3,500 miles and with full synthetic I'm waiting until 10,000 miles.

Well I've gotten incredibly lazy for the last three oil changes so i just use valvoline conventional 5w30. Whatever filter they stick on. The filter is too hard for me to get to most of the time. Doesnt burn or leak any oil. Pulls super strong @ 150,000k.

I also get Shell gas if I can help it. I don't mind getting another brand as long as it's a major company. I'm not going to get gas at a little mom and pop store.

i get mine at the mom and pop stores, cause its the only place that doesn't have ethanol in their gas here. i get 17.5 in the 98 on ethanol, and around 20 consistently with no ethanol with no driving style changes

I've grown up on using Valvoline 5w30 (White bottle) no additives or synthetics, and a fram filter. Never had any problems that i can think of, but now that my motor needs rebuilt i may switch to a delco filter or something else and may try to just run synthetic oil, not entirely sure though.

On our 67 c10 for the first startup and run we used that recycled valvoline oil (cheaper oil) just to run it through the engine since a little coolant got in it, then drained it and put in some Shell Rotella 5w30 or 10w30

Someone correct me if I'm wrong, but doesn't more ethanol give you a little more performance and in return lower gas mileage? I'm going off the people with the trucks that can run on E85 where they say the mileage sucks but the performance is better. To me when it comes to a truck I prefer performance over gas mileage. Actually I prefer performance over gas mileage in anything lol. I'm the guy that would get a V8 Camaro as a "gas saver", but maybe that's just me lol.

The reason I don't go to the small mom and pop stores is because there's no way of knowing how good or bad the gas is. Maybe it's something that's nothing to worry about, but it's just always been on my mind. Especially since fuel pumps for these trucks aren't known to be all that great.

The problem is that our truck are not set up to run ethanol. Alcohol runs cooler and burns slower than gasoline. If all the seals, gaskets and o-rings were changed and it was properly tuned you would have better performance and roughly the same fuel mileage. That is all they run in Brazil is ethanol and diesel. It also is cleaner burning. Ethanol is also cheaper.
