I got a lot done today, I unbolted the steering shaft and soaked the telescoping part with PB blaster, then I removed drivers side mounts (all 4), and loosened passenger mount half way. Lifted driver side, slid blocks in, started on passenger side, lower shroud got caught up, so I took it out and trimmed it to fit, put it back in, slid blocks in passenger side. Put Loc-tite on all bolts after all that. After truck is now in air, the steering shaft came apart, I put steering extension on upper part of shaft, then slid bottom part in, wouldn't slide so I clamped vise grips on the lower shaft, and tapped the vice grips to push shaft in extension.

After all that I figured I would pull the grommet out from under the truck that has tranny linkage, break the clip and stuff it back in. (F taking the seat out and pulling carpet, you don't need to).

What's the point of those tubes for the fan shroud to raise up 3 inches, when the top and bottom shroud move together, I don't get that.

All I have left to do tomorrow is finish mounting front bumper up, put grill on, upper shroud, parking lamps, then I gotta lift the box and cut that filler neck hose.

Can someone go in to DETAIL on how to do the filler next extension.

ok 1. for the fan shroud there is bolts that hold the top and bottom piece together. you are supposed to unbolt it, take it apart, put the spacers and long bolts in place so that your fan doesnt hit it

2. for the filler neck, all you have to do it take a sharp razor blade, cut the big rubber line that goes down to the tank, slide the metal filler piece into both ends and put the hose clamps on

for the smaller hose that is a vent im pretty sure i just unhooked it from whatever hold it next to the filler neck so that it has some slack in it

it is probably easier to do all this with the filler unbolted from the bed too by the way..and if it doesnt quite line up right when you get it done, jsut start as many bolts as you can and then tightnen them and it will pull it up into place

Filler neck. Cut the rubber portion of the hose. slide the ext piece in between the cuts and clamp it down. viola. extended.

The shroud has 4 bolts in the middle that connect the upper and lower together. remove those 4 bolts and the clips. drill the holes to accept the new bolts and then you use the spacers to space it out. if you dont your gonna rip the lower shroud into a billion pieces.

also my gas tank line has way more than enough slack that I did not need to extend it. it still has play after the lift.

I just don't understand.

When you raise your cab, the engine stays in the same spot, but the radiator along with lower and upper fan shroud move up, I trimmed the lower, WHY do I need those spacers if the lower is up also? There's no need for those spacers..

Can someone take a picture.

And for the filler neck, isn't there a plastic hose inside the rubber hose?

no there isnt a plastic hose inside the filler, its jsut some rubber line

and yes the radiator moves up along with the fan shroud, but when the bottom part comes up with it, it gets in the way of the fan, so the spacer bolts separate the 2 pieces apart so they dont come in contact with the fan

The spacers are so you do not have to trim your stock piece. You jumped the gun on that. If you used the spacers you wouldn't have had to cut anything. They provide that so you can remove everything and go back to stock like it never happened.

The fan was hitting the bottom shroud.. the bottom shroud moved up with the radiator. I got some pictures, I ran in to a problem with the bumper, the idiots that welded up the bumper relocators couldn't center the nut over the hole, so I stripped one of my factory bolts, that's the least of my problems, take a look at how the bumper sits, even after trying to slide it around the slots from the outside bumper brackets.
