Vortec Lover's '98 K1500 Build

I figured if the diesel bumper is going on, I have an excuse to pull the brush guard off. I thought that I was going to have to pull the grill off, but I managed to work around it. So what might have taken me forever only took me a few minutes and cost me a bloody knuckle... I can NEVER work on this truck without splitting my hands open- and I never notice until it's running down my hand.

I like it off- I probably won't put it back on. My sister disagrees- the first thing she said was "it needs it on there" (she doesn't care for GMC grills)

I didnt realise you took it off! I love it alot better this way! I think you should do the top corner light mod, have all those amber lights light up! Would look great man.

I have a banner 'gate now an a gmc grill. My plan is an Ebay 18 bar insert that will do away with the gmc emblem. Problem fixed.......

I might put a billet bowtie on it don't know about that yet though

Please dont put a bowtie in the gmc grill, I seen someone with GMC on chevy and it just doesnt look right! I prefer the chevy grill, but i know a gmc with billet grill does look good.

Haha it is pretty much 100% stock minus tint and exhaust. But I have a set of wheels and tires in the garage going on after winter along with colormatched fender flares and bumpers too if i can find a good rust free set

are you color matching to the bottom color like the NBS's were?

Yep that is the plan. Not quite sure how good matched bumpers would look for this color though

Nice! That would look good.
Come to think of it my neighbour has a '90 GMC K2500 with an old-style W/T GMC grille and Chev banner gate. Actually looks pretty good, it's black and a regular cab. Has PYOs, dual flowmasters, really nice chrome smoothies. I call it the best of both worlds lol.

I was thrilled to find this at the local yard... they didn't have a straight diesel bumper so that will have to wait until I can find one somewhere else.

Doug's 4-wheeers near Pella had a bunch of them, smoothie and with the moldings and some of them looked almost new, not sure on price though

Thanks! I agree- it's staying off. Really cleaned things up.

Top corner mod is planned. But first I'll have to do the bottom corner mod. For some reason my lower corners aren't lighting up... I'm not sure if that's new or if they never did I've never looked at them before and I don't have any old pictures with my markers on.
