I was getting about 6 probably less with the '89 when I bought it. It had seen better days and now that I am into it elbows deep I can see all the reasons why it was so low. I think I'll be happy if I can get 15 out of it when I am finished putting it all back together.

With my '91 Sport I was getting between 15-19, I think if I had of spent a little money on cleaning up the intake and replaced the duals the PO put on it I could have gotten a little bit more out of it. Also some different rubber would have made a difference, if the ones I had on there didn't chirp the way they did I think it would have been about 16-19.

'96 GMC K1500 Z71 extra cab short box, all stock with the exception of dual in dual out Flowmaster exhaust.
16 to 17 mpg empty with auto trans in overdrive at 80 to 90 mph. Tach reads 2000 to 2500 RPM.
11 mpg towing 5000 to 6000 pounds, never using overdrive, at 75 to 85 mph. Tach reads 3000 to 3500 RPM.
3.73 gears, 265/75-16 Wild Country XTX tires, 85 octane regular gas.
I live in Colorado so altitude ranges are from 5000 to 6000 feet above sea level.
Truck has 173,000+ miles on it.

My 94 gets really good mileage but it's a complete pooch off the line! Horrible gears!

And my 98 gets horrible mileage. It's cruising around 3200 rpm at 60 which is horrible for a diesel. Again, Horrible gears!

I average about 13 mpgs mixed, I live in a rural area so most driving is highway and back roads. Best mileage I ever got was 16.4 on a 120 mile stretch at 65 mph. I have 3.73 gears, with the 350TBI/4L60E.

At 70 mph, im at 2200 RPM's. Best mileage for me is if I keep it below 2000 RPM's!

Best I've gotten is about 15mpg right on the money. I typically get 9-12 per tank depending on where I'm driving. Most of my driving is in town.

how are you running 2200? I only run 2000 at 70.... 265/70/17 which is pretty much identical to 265/75/16

But I pull down a consistent 15 to 15.5 Hwy and have seen 17 when I was pretty much stock. Around town is 12.5 to 13

Around town Ill get 14's fairly consistantly. On the highway, if I have the cap on, Ill get high 17-18mpg. With th cap off, Ill get 16's. Alot depends on how I drive with the 5spd. If I feel like revving it up and listening to the exhaust, or if Im just driving 'normal'.
