I remembered to look at the pushrods. Hard to get a great shot but I did my best. They seem good to me but I’m also not a pro like you guys are lol

The "factory" used non-self-aligning rocker arms for decades, before switching to self-aligning rockers in the mid-1980s.

In short...could be either. Post a photo of the valve-tip end.

The pushrods look polished by the guideplates, but not scarred. Probably hardened--or not much run-time on them.

I’ll get a picture after work. It’s a fairly low mileage build. I got the motor with approximately 1,500 miles on it according to the previous owner. I’ve put maybe 20k on it? I’ll look back through my records and refresh my memory on that number.

The way to test hardness of a metal is to touch a file to it. If it tries to bite in it's soft. If it just glides across the surface it's hard. The tips will always be hardened,it's the rods you have to check.
I'm not seeing much oil on those rocker balls.

I’ll try that when I get home. The engine hasn’t run in 3-5 months now so the top end is pretty dry. I started it a week or so ago just to hear it run and one of (what I assume was) the hydraulic lifters was clacking away. I didn’t let it run more than 45 seconds but hopefully when oil pressure gets built up everything will quiet down.
