Both notches are installed and welded off. Took me longer than I thought but it looks pretty good

I had an idea so i ran with it a bit. Far more for looks but I'd love to get some opinions before I take the time to make more. There would be one on each side of the notch, what do you think?

Why not just do a nice gusset? Mounted right on the outer edge it would do more for stiffness while using about 1/4 the steel. Your piece does look nicely made, but I wouldn't be able to abide it if it were on my truck. I'd have to cut it off.
