Rope or chain around the X then up to the hook. The bed will pivot on the lift cylinder so watch your fingers. Maybe some cinder blocks or wheels chained to the bottom of the hoist for ballast. It shouldn’t tip forward but you’ll still be over center so just keep an eye on things.

Ended up using another strap around the center if the other two, added a bunch if counterweight to the back of the lift as it was wanting to tip. Also put blocks under the legs if the lift to keep it from moving. It all worked out.

I'm thinking about going with a fuel cell to get rid if this swimming pool sized gas tank. I know nothing about them.
Anyone have any good info or pros and cons of going that route?

The bladder in a proper fuel cell needs to be removed and inspected yearly and is considered a wear item. If you're talking about a plastic can fuel cell, leave those to the dirt track racers. The factory fuel tank has a level of quality and safety that's hard to beat.
