So i recently had to replace both my head gaskets as well as intake manifold gaskets and exhaust gaskets. I also replaced my distributor spark plugs and wires. I have timed it an everytjing correctly. Now i start it and it doesnt want to stay running unless i give it gas. Its a 1988 k1500 5.7 v8 350 engine. Im stuck and dont know where to start. Any input would be awesome...

It just doesn't idle? Can you get a high idle with throttle application?

Ran OK before ripping the heads off, now won't idle?

Check compression on all eight. I bet you have the rocker arms adjusted too tight, holding some or all valves open just a bit.

There are other possibilities, if the rocker arm nuts are not the issue. As said, verify fuel pressure and then connect a scan tool. Look at the data stream, and also check for "codes". Codes can be helpful, but the real info is in the data stream. Verify EVERY sensor, look at fuel trims and once it's warmed-up, check the O2 sensor. Assure that you have proper electronic spark advance.
