Introduction

First GMT400 for me; 88 Scottsdale 3500

Since selling my 66 C10 in May, I was missing having a truck for random hauling tasks. I found a 3500 on Minneapolis craigslist that checked the right boxes; it wasn't rusted out, it only has 67,000 miles on the clock, manual transmission, and big block engine. I drove it, I liked it, and I bought it. Though not rusted, it has a lot of paint coming off to show light gray primer. No dents.

Got any pics? I am about 45 miles north of you on I94.
I am getting a new phone up and running today or tomorrow; then I will have access to my pictures.

I bought the truck in Sartell.

Right now, I am working to get the blower motor running. I bought a new resistor, but it is too cold now to install it. There was a large mouse nest on top of the resistor, so it may have fallen victim to rodent urine.

Nice! Welcome! I'm also close by, I work in Mendota Heights and live just across the border.

Being an 88, does that still have the sm465 dump-truck 3-speed with granny low transmission? Or was it changed to a 5-speed?

It was the 5-speed transmission, which is my preference.

SRW 3500s are kind of rare anymore. Most were work trucks and got well used so not many left. On the transmission are you sure it was a 5 speed? I am pretty sure that only the 1500 and LD 2500 recieved the 5 speed with overdrive in 88. Not that someone could have swapped something different in at some point in the last 34 years. If someone has swapped in a NV4500 you have a pretty sweet drivetrain.

This alley cat is expecting a truck ride. The transmission shifts just like the pattern on the knob.

That is the SM465 floor cover, so it was originally a 4 speed. It was definitely swapped, although that is an aftermarket shifter. If you have a super low 1st gear then you likely have the NV4500, otherwise probably something else.
