update: The Howards retro roller camshaft arrived last month. The engine is at the machine shop with the camshaft installed and a lowered compression ratio. Hopefully this week the engine gets dynoed, I want to insure it runs good on 87 octane (gas prices in north America are sooo high!). As well just to make sure it runs well and I don't have to worry about it once I drop it in! The next time the engine comes out is to change for a SBC electric motor lol..

Back when 87 was $1.49 a gallon, the gas stations were charging $1.69 for 89, and $1.89 for 91 octane. That's more than a 10% markup for the octane.

Now that gas is $3.79 a gallon, my local station is charging $3.89 for 89 and $3.99 fro 91 octane, which is only a 3% markup.

"That's a bargain!", but it doesn't feel like it.

For sure, this dually has a 34 gallon tank and likely gets around 10 mpg?? or so hopefully I can use the 87..yes the octane pricing difference doesn't seem to bad when you start increasing the price so much! I figure up here it is around $5 US per gallon or $6 CDN..either way the tow distance to my local track is around 26 miles so it will be like $15 each way..

Got truck dyno'ed, it produced about 400 lbs of torque at 3000 rpm and 307 hp at 4900..hoping to drop engine in truck this week and have it move under it's own power !

I got the grill installed, and turn signal/front lights wired up. After driving it around the block a few times, the problems so far are:
-steering box leaking, I replaced the pitman arm seal but after awhile it still leaks. I am going to remove it and get it rebuilt
-electric fan doesn't operate...There is something wrong with the BMW temperature switch. I am considering going to a 11 blade clutch fan out of a s-10 etc..I have the fan shroud etc
-turn signals flash rapidly, I believe I have the wrong bulbs in the taillights assembly, this causes a incorrect resistance
I have a AN hose for the fuel line, I would like to install the gas tank etc,
Once these things are dealt with I am one step closer to getting it on the road..

Yes, all bulbs seem to work but it seems as if there is different bulbs for the brake lights and tail light/turn signals..I will get the specific bulbs for each circuit and see what happens..For the Howard's camshaft, on the dyno the engine made 307 hp and 397 foot lbs torque..So far the idle is smooth
