AD244 is installed with new cables. Pretty impressed with how its working at this point, very little voltage drop from the battery to the junction box/outside fuse box on the other side. 14.74v at the battery and 14.69v at the JB. Unfortunately I was in the zone when I started and didn't get initial readings, but I know from past scans with my OBD2 reader, 14.1-14.2 was pretty common going down the road. I kicked everything on HIGH after it warmed up tonight at idle, it didn't even move the needle on the gauge. I had planned to do this Saturday, but needed some shop therapy after this week.

Tomorrow I'll throw it on the lift and put on the new starter.

Parts ready to go on...

I also took the plunge and went Milwaukee red. I've been a Ryobi One+ guy for 10+ years, but I have a local guy who sells Milwaukee and I'd rather give him the business than Home Depot...plus the 5min drive to town vs 50min-1hr drive to Home Depot makes a big difference! My Ryobi impact is probably my favorite tool in the shop, and I love how much smaller this Milwaukee unit is.

This weekend has been busy. Yesterday I headed down to Oak Grove, MO to pick up a set of wheels for the 'burb. I had commented about H2's, but everyone has those. The wheels I picked up were 07-10 2500HD/Yukon/Suburban wheels. These don't pop up too often so makes them a bit more scarce. The wheels had BFGoodrich LT275/70R17 All Terrain T/A K02's on them with 4-5/32nds...so I sold those today, I'm net $25 in these wheels so far...I can live with that. Ran to Mrs. OutlawDrifter's dealership this morning and zipped them off the wheels. Came home and stripped the clear coat off of them to prepare for sanding/polishing.

Aircraft Paint Stripper on the wheels:

This one is about the worst, it will need some attention to the bead also:

Not 100% sure on the center cap setup. I'm going to run some factory GMT400 caps to start, but I'll keep the PY0 polished caps just incase.

Those rims look great!

What did you use for "aircraft stripper"? It's my understanding that methylene chrolride is not available anymore... at least not to the general public. I found that out when I went to strip my aluminum valve covers.

Thanks!

It's Klean-Strip Aircraft Ultra Paint Remover, bought it at O'Reilly's.

Wheels are all finished up, no pics yet. They are driver quality, which will be good enough. I ordered tires yesterday. Switched gears completely and went with my old trusted Falken Wildpeak HT treads. I really have no need for an AT tire for the bulk of how I use this Suburban. The newer HT02 is an upgrade from the HT01s I've ran on 4-5 different vehicles in the past. They do well in the rain, on snow/ice, and wear well. The HT02s have an "agressive" sidewall for an HT, so that helps a little in the looks department. If I end up not liking it, I'll probably pick up a set of the Wildpeak AT3Ws instead.

After the wheels/tires are situated, it's time to get serious about the front brakes. At this point I'm also leaning towards doing the cab marker lights.

A pic of the finished wheels for the Suburban. FedEx(the bane of my existence) tracking shows my tires will be here Tuesday.

400/600/800/1000/1500 grit wet sanding, black/brown/white buffing compounds with 4" wheels, some Mothers aluminum polish on top of that, and 3 coats of ceramic to seal it up.

You didn't hand sand, did you? No clear, just ceramic?

Well, more snow today. Seems like we're going to get all of it right before Spring hits. 4-5" on the ground right now and it's still coming(weather man says ALL DAY)...generally this time of year we get wet heavy snow, this is light fluffy powder, so it will move easy with the tractor when I get home.

Received 2 boxes of goodies and 4 tires yesterday. FedEx finally got the hint after 4 phone calls.

I ordered a new aluminum quadrant and firewall adjuster for the Mrs.'s Mach 1. Probably should have done a new cable with them, but I'll try these first as the cable engages smooth and has no rough spots.

In the same box was a new rolled edge exhaust tip for the 'burb. Decided to update the tip with the change in the wheels as well.

Last box has a new liner for my Eastwood Mig 135, it was due, and I'll need it to weld the tip on.

Tires came in dusty off the truck so I had to wipe one off to check them over. These have a little age on them, which suits me just fine. I was told by a guy who works at the Goodyear tire plant in Topeka, tires need to sit for 3-4mo to finish "cooking" off and harden a little. Makes them wear better. Best part of the Wildpeak H/T's is the MADE IN USA stamp on them!

Wheels, new tires, new center caps, new exhaust tip, and new LED reverse/load lights installed on the Suburban this weekend. Picked up a set of GMT400 specific center caps to use, really enjoying the look.
