My 98 K1500 bushings are rusted and about shot, the truck rides like **** on rough roads and pot holes. It seems replacing them is a *****. My 6.5' bed had a high, heavy fiberglass A R E shell w a fiberglass back door that replaced the tailgate all it's life until I bought it. The truck sits level w no load.Fill the bed w fire wood and it sags a lot. I'm thinking the springs are about wore out and replacing them and the bushings would be better/easier than replacing the bushings.......what do ya'll think?

I went with general spring and got a set of 3/4 ton leafs. Also went on oreilly.com and got the shackles from them. (Moog) slapped them in and got the ass up like how I wanted it. However mine has a 4" lift so that's why I wanted a higher end rather than getting oem 1/2 which were 4 plus 1 I think. Easy to swap rather than messing with the bushings bull crap and getting chewed up by mosquitoes lol

I did the same thing when I lifted my truck. I went and got 4/1 leaves becuase I have a lumber rack, tool boxes and a full size 37" spare.

New bushings already in the new springs and new shackles with bushings already in them meant all I had to do was slap the bolts in, no torch, no punches, no mess.

Yup. It's either change them now or change them later but either way you'll be repeating the process rather then slap em in and be done

Before you spend money, LOOK at the existing leafs.

If they're cracked/broken, you know you're not going to put on fresh bushings, or a helper-leaf.
pretty sure they're not cracked but they are rusty and the shackles are rusty, the bushings are about rotted out, the hangers and rivets are ok.
