As most of you remember, this thing was FILTHY when I bought it. Along the way between getting over zealous with the cleaning solution and dish sponge, and removing the stickers that the PO put on the dash...it was looking pretty rough. There’s no cracks to speak of, and since I’m nowhere near to the point of pulling the dash just yet, I’m gonna try my hand at paint / dye while it’s in the truck.

I likely won’t spray it until the morning, I’ll prep in the meantime

Also need to paint the gray part of the bezel too, even though it does have a crack. I do eventually plan on replacing this with a double DIN bezel at some point, so I’m not too worried about that now.

Bezel taped off

A little after the fact, but I also replaced a couple of intermittently going out indicator bulbs (turn signals and high beam) and replaced the trip odometer since the one that was initially in the Escalade cluster hung up at 0.9 miles.

The clear plastic cover/lense/whatever comes off pretty easy if you want to clean it really well in the sink. Mine had gotten super dirty, and I didn't want to wipe it for fear of scratching it. I took it apart and it cleaned up really well.

I did have it off earlier, it’s already pretty scratched, I’ll just keep an eye out for a better one at the junkyards. I apparently misplaced the nut that holds the Jack assembly down, so I’ll need to find one of those too

They do scratch easily. I learned building model cars that the chemicals that make plastic clear also make it easier scratch and crack. I keep a microfiber cloth in the Burb, for wiping the cluster off.

:doh2: I didn't even consider swapping out the trip meter! Both of mine are '93, so it should be a simple ordeal.
Replacement instrument cluster lenses would sell well if someone would reproduce them.
