This one. Odyssey 34/78 PC1500DT.

Made in the USA by Enersys, four year free replacement warranty. I have them in both of my '97s and they still function like new after over seven years. Not cheap, but you did say "best."
As much as I would love to get that one, it would break the bank right at the moment, lmao. Do you know any other batteries that would be good? Any experience with everstart max from walmart? I’m just trying to get me a decent batter to last me a couple years and then eventually i can upgrade to the Odyssey. Thank you for the link though, i think you always seem to know what the best parts are lol!

No problem!

Unfortunately I don't have any good budget recommendations, I've been buying expensive batteries for a while. Old car stereo addictions. I can tell you what not to buy though, anything made by Optima. They used to be great, but they've gone downhill big time.

i've never spent "big bucks" on a hattery, even with a stereo system. I actually never even bought a battery new. If I did, it was years ago and don't remember. But when I do buy a used one I try to get the biggest I can. The battery went in my 08 Tundra couple years ago. It a friggin' huge battery, dunno the cranking amps, but since everything today has to do with electronics, it was prolly over 800. But I put a used one in that was half the size, literally, and has been fine. I've never had any issues with using too small a battery.

Vacuum test is fairly simple, your local parts shop will likely lend you a vacuum gage, should be clearly marked with operating range, just hook one end of the hose to the gage, the other end to a vacuum connection on the intake, open the throttle manually a few times to see if you're pulling vacuum all the way through the RPM range. Open the throttle and keep the RPMs steady, vacuum should fall with sudden throttle changes in the open direction.

Mhm I didn’t know it was supposed to have 800 cca. What would be the best battery to get? A lot of people seem to think the everstart max is pretty good.
O'reilly calls for a group 75 or 78 (or 34/78 dual post), I had the Group 75 Extreme for 5 years until it got to the point my voltage, at the gauge, went down to ~7.8V when cranking. I went to the 34/78 Platinum and it now cranks at ~10+V, turns over a lot faster and starts quicker.

I'm sure it's great but I just had a hard time spending close to $300 for a battery.:33:

I get that, it is a lot of money. But I don't think I've got that much more funds wrapped up in batteries than I would if I were buying cheaper models. $300 for what I'm assuming is going to be a decade or better of lifespan at this rate is an expense I can live with.

What I really like about them is their rapid discharge ability though. I have no good explanation for it but I've seen these reduce voltage drop in big car audio systems with no other electrical modifications. Maybe something to do with the construction/arrangement of the plates?

I use the Durastart 78-2 batteries from farm stores, and they seem to be pretty good.
