Preparing truck & camper for N. American trek
After removing and cleaning throttle body of carbon build up, I cleaned out intake manifold without removing it using carb cleaner, wire bore bristle brush then wiped clean with rags on the end of 12 ga. cleaning rod. I fashioned a clear, 3/8” plastic hose to vacuum to remove any loose debris (that was technique sharing ) after reassembling, while driving, the idle was 2k+. I’d give gas pedal quick pump which would bring idle down by only 250-500 rpm. Friend said to disconnect pos and neg. cables from battery and attach them together for 5 min to reset the computer. His reasoning was the computer had been compensating for the excess build up of carbon. With carbon gone, the computer needed to be reset. Has anyone tried this and received lower idle? My cable ends wouldn’t touch so I used a jumper cable. I also removed the cruise control cable since it was taunt and the cable to the petal wasn’t. The idle is now down to 1100rpm but that’s with CC cable disconnected. Please share you solutions for this. Thank you in advance.
