I’m still rocking the original spider injection in my 1997 with 210k on the clock. Cold and hot starts no problem.

Except this one time.... I was in super hot 110 temp and went to restart truck it took lots of cranking and had to feather throttle to get going. After 30 seconds it went back to normal.

I thought about the mpfi upgrade but read mixed reviews on Amazon. Several reviews on how it was great for a few months then misfire or SES light due to one of the injectors not firing.

I can pull down good mileage on highway 17 - 20 if I go 65. If I drive 75 - 80 then mpg is 14 - 15

Both of my '97s are still running the factory injectors as well, but if I ever have issues they'll get the ACDelco MPFI spider.

I suspect one or more injectors may be leaking gas after shutting the motor off.when I cold start the truck just a touch of the key and the motor starts fast and hard like there might execess gas pooled on the closed intake valves or in the cylinders. I'm getting 13/14 in town and 18 hwy.

Testing for leaks is pretty quick and easy.

just did mine on the 4.3
#1 poppet flamed out so did the conversion.
attempted to get the ACdelco kit from Rock Auto but it was removed from my cart @ checkout .....
so went with BWD, quality was good and 4.3's running great.
used the stock bracket.
ACdelco isn't what it used to be imo, made in China like all the others.

I have a 98 s10 ls w the 4.3 w 215k
Its been spanked for 10 yrs and still runs pretty good. I had to replace the throttle body some years ago as it jammed wide open when my boot jammed between the peddle and the trans. hump. Bout blew it up before I could shut it off.

I just replaced the pivot arm and pivot assembly on the K1500 a few weeks ago w ACD parts and they were much better quality than the factory.

before you start, you should check to make sure your intake isn't leaking or think about doing it at the same time while you're there, imo.
under close inspection mine was just starting.
