Those are the worst for injectors, I'd try at least one generation newer.

+1 for the lbz or lly. Especially when tuned they do pretty well. Imo the tuning and exhaust on the newer Duramaxs really doesn't help how they drive. I wasnt real impressed with my dad's lml until we deleted the emissions and tuned it. Now it pulls like mad and will get 22-23 mpg if cruising unloaded at 70-75. I think he see around 12-13 with their 13k horsetrailer. He's had zero luck trying to find a Duramax for a reasonable price, he's pretty set on this one. It won't be used much in the way of daily driving; mainly pulling the camper every couple of weekend. This 02 has new injectors and a new CP3 pump, it's got 312K on it and it's in literally brand new condition. I'll try to get my dad steered in the right direction for getting it taken care of even more; so we'll just see how it goes.

In news with my 96, I noticed a slight misfire get a little worse this morning when it was idling to warm up, I've noticed a little hitch every few resolutions in the past but this one was really noticeable.
Also as I was driving back home last night I noticed the truck would bog down a hair getting on the throttle; so I'll clean some **** to see if it goes away, plus it is about time for a filter change anyway.
If he goes with a LB7, invest in a good water fuel and filter system for it. I'd go 1 micron for sure.I'll have to experiment some with that, I've got a few sets of cheap junk headlights laying around as well as a few OEM lenses and bases
The LB7 is a truck for my dad; he wants to replace the 99 C3500 with something that'll pull our travel trailer without hesitation.
You are sooooo overthinking a road trip dude. Just fill the tank and go.
In the last 5 tanks, how many times has this truck made you walk home?
