I am picking up a good condition, lowish mileage (164k) 97 k1500 4wd today...

I will be driving it back home approx 400 miles.

Supposedly, the truck is in great condition and runs like new... however, I believe you can never be to cautious.

I picked up a quart of everything, a gallon of 50/50, fix a flat, radiator stop leak, gorilla tape and hose clamps. I am bringing a TON of tools with me as well. Rhino ramps, step stool, warning triangles, road flares, led signal lights...

My buddy will be following me back home and we have a tow strap, tow block, etc... this is good as we will always have a backup vehicle so we will never be stranded or unable to acquire more tools/supplies.

Any parts/tools that you would want to bring specifically for one of our trucks?

I use to bring a starter and alternator along with a fan belt.
Hilift Jack and spare tire. And extra fluids. When ever we went in the woods.

I took a few things out of my prep bags to make some extra room because we were not going into the woods, lol. Like my life straw, mylar blankets, compass, flint set, those sorts of things. It helps to not have to panic as much since you will have a "support vehicle" and paved roads.

AAA card and credit card

Cash and credit cards are a must, already have that squared away! I actually do not have a AAA membership! I need to look into that... I bet my buddy that is going along with me does though! That is something that he would have...

I put 3k miles on my 94 in a week, if it runs well and doesn't have any leaks, just go for it. 400 miles is nothing.

Rent a car trailer. 400 miles can be a one day trip. I did a orange county to Reno and back in one day to pick up a truck. The trailer was $70.

It’s gonna cost more in gas to drive it home and possible break down. Get it home go through it all.
