So thinking of a new exhaust system for my truck. (Has a Borla Cat-Back Exhaust) Its quiet at idle, but when you step on it she sounds mint. I want something that is louder at idle with a nice lope. But IYHO whats the best sounding exhaust for a 350? Also for the 5.0 and the 4.3?

This is one of those questions that's so subjective you're never really going to get a solid answer. Everyone's definition of "best" is different, for different reasons.

This is about the only thing upon which people can agree; that everyone's taste varies. Maybe the OP wants to hear what everyone's favorite setup is in this thread so that he can find out what he likes best.

I don't think I'd ever accentuate the sound of a 3/4 350. For a 305/350, it depends on the truck and the purpose.

If you want lope, you gotta cam it. An exhaust won't make an engine lope. That being said, I agree with the above. What I think sounds good, someone else things sounds like ****. I've run just about everything from cheap thrush glass packs from advance auto, to flowmaster to magnaflow (best sound, IMO) to what I have now, a straight through glass pack from summit. It's all about your budget and your taste.

In my opinion, hack the muffler off and run a pipe out the back. I love the way that sounds.

I will agree with what everyone said above. Everyone's taste is different and it's subject to change person to person. I for one hate straight pipes on stock 350s or any stock motor for that matter. Sounds pretty good at idle but anything else it sounds like crap... is also doesn't help that everyone and there brother has straight pipes on trucks around here. Again, it's my opinion.

As of right now I have true duals with no cats into 2 Flowmaster 40s turned out the passenger side before the rear wheel. It sound pretty good for basically free with stuff I had laying around. Has a nice sound throughout the rev range. But my ultimate goal is long tube headers into some Magnaflows.

I had a pair of 2 chamber FM knockoffs for a while. I think they were made by Thrush. They rusted out and fell apart after about 2-3 years. Now I'm running a pair of magnaflows. This is stock headpipes, stock cats, into mufflers, then 2.25" tails with corner exit slash cut 2.50" tips. IMO, the 2 chamber mufflers sounded WAY better than the magnaflows (after the carbon buildup muffled the drone...took a couple weeks).

I've very happy with the sound of Cherrybomb Extremes. I plan on putting them on anything and everything I build.

"Best Sound?" we just finished an 1100+HP blown 454 for a 64 Vette at the shop I work for... dumped into open pipe 4" side pipes... HOLY MOTHER!!!! is it the most magical sound!
