my dad has a 99 classic 3/4 ton suburban with 8 lug axles the frame is good in it but the motor is blown and we were thinking of mating the front half of the frame to a good back half of frame i found in the junkyard and using the suspension and axles under my 98 it would mean i have the motor aand everything from my 98 on 3/4 ton running axles with 3/4 ton suspension the main reason i want to do this is so i have a good frame but the burn has 4:10 gears and a locker..... would my idea work?

in theory yes it should work, just need to measure the frame rail size to make sure the c channel is not taller on the 3/4 ton vs the 1/2 ton in the area where the two would be welded together, be sure to weld diamond shape plates onto the side of the frame at the meeting point to add strength to the area
