edit: and i do have an inline fuse from battery to relay which the diagram does not show.... from your drawing looks pretty much the same... only thing I have had people tell me to get power for switch from battery but i did mine from fuse box easier and closer and had no problems.

I prefer the fuse box or the battery for adding low amperage stuff like this because in the fuse box you can pick a wire that is always on or one that comes on with the key...and it's just way easier that way.

Charles, I recommend buying a cheap test light and muiltimeter. The ones from harbor freight work fine and they come in handy for projects like this.
