switch power from fusebox (like above):
-12 volts to the power lug on the switch
-ground wire on the ground lug
-wire to pin 85 (or 86 doesn't matter) to acc lug
-ground wire on pin 86(or 85)
OR
switch power from battery:
-12 volts to pin 85(or 86)
-pin 86(or 85) to the power lug on the switch
-ground wire on the ground lug
-ground wire on the acc lug

This picture is at a normal state. A relay is like an electromagnetic switch. When you apply power and ground to pins 85 and 86 a magnet flips the closed circuit from 87a to 87. So, in this picture, without power to 85/86 power added to 30 and 87a is a closed(on) circuit, and 30 and 87 is open (off).
By the way, the signal side of the relay(85/86) is very low amperage and I have used 22 ga wire to wire that circuit without problems.
