So I have code 52. Truck runs rough and is a dog. Even for a tbi 350.
1995 c2500 5.7 tbi nv4500 trans.
What's the process for diagnosing a code 52? Can't find many forums here or much info anywhere.
The ecm has been tampered with before. The connections look like they have red grease on them and a while ago I found it not even buckled down in its holder.

Code diagnostic procedure will be in the service manual. The sticky threads have links to service manuals that can be downloaded free.

Open up the box and make sure everything is seated well in there. Take a picture, maybe it's an aftermarket chip or something.

Ok. Cleaned grease out of connectors and insured that the prom is set correctly. No change. Code came back.

Anyone know where I can get a prom from? Or any links to somewhere that can burn a new prom chip? I have a reman ecm on the way. Hope that solves the issue.

52 (1994-1995) System Voltage – highAlternator, jump started

There are guys that can do it for you on Gearhead-EFI.com that can do that for you. Dave w (Old School EFI) is one. There's a few here too...

The date on that manual is 3--94. Leads me to believe that it's a '95 service manual--correct for the application as long as the proper section is being used--gasoline vs. diesel, small-block vs. big-block, etc. It may be that there is no engine distinction for that code (applies to all engines, or applies to all gasoline engines).

As much as I love scan tools--and used to own a 2500-series "Red Brick" like the one pictured, I like service manuals just as much. APPARENTLY there's a flaw in the Snap-On software that misrepresents the cause of Code 52. Another, less-likely possibility is that the wrong VIN number was entered into the tool, so that there's a communication problem between the tool and the vehicle.

A voltmeter (including the voltage readout of the scan tool itself) would tell that tale.
