Tinkering with a 99 Suburban

Put a factory air box on the burb today to remedy a half assed attempt at a cold air intake. Put on a new filter and changed the oil. Used Pennzoil high mileage 5w20 full..

Did you really use 5w20? That's light for our trucks.

So basically it’s the same trans but one is mechanical and one is electronic? Tbh I was hoping for an 80 but I figure it was utilized in 2500/3500. I think I’ll pull the 60 from the Yukon and send it out for a beefier rebuild.

No, it's literally the same transmission, GM just changed the name to 4L60 to line up with the new nomenclature. In 92/93 the electronic version was introduced, called the 4L60E.

Minimum 5w-30. My girl's 1990 K2500 calls for that. Here in the PNW, the weather is not severe, so I run 5w-30 to 10w-30 in it.

Yeah, as movietvet mentioned 5 or 10w30.
5w30 was factory fill but the shop manual indicates 10w30 is also GM approved.

Please do me a favor. make a note of your hot idle oil pressure and then when you change, the same hot idle oil pressure. Curious if there is any noticeable change and how much, if at all.
