If I get a six inch lift kit input 35's on and I have a 14 bolt with 372 gears do I really have to regear the rear axle and if so do I also have to regear the front and what would be recommended for a lot of highway driving and off roading

3.42 = seen it done, not recommended at all
3.73 = the minimum
4.10 = more highway
4.56 = more offroad/towing

Check your glove box for the code or count the teeth on your diff. If you decide to change gear size you have to do both at the same time, otherwise bad stuff starts to happen.

You must gear both front and rear the same or you can take out the front axle until both get matched. This chart should give a little more info:

According to that chart 3.42s are $hit gears for a truck with 265/75/16s. And I believe every minute of it! I wish i had 3.73s in mine!

That chart is very reliable, but keep in mind it is not the Bible. Certain "35" inch tires run larger, some smaller, some weigh 90+ lbs, some weigh -65 lbs. It does get you in the ball park though
