tbi timing how to?

okay were putting in a tbi 350 for some one when put the distributor in do you have to unplug the timing advance/retard plug to set or not?

Yes, once the engine is warm, you disconnect the Blk/Gry EST (Electronic Spark Timing), start it up and set it to zero with the timing light. Shut it off, disconnect the negative battery cable and short it to the positive so, you reset the MALF code. Hook it back up (negative and EST Bypass Wire). Start it up and you're good to go.

What year truck? The wire is in different positions depending on year.

I watched these am under the impression that this need to be do every time the distributor is disturbed (removed installed)

yes we found where it is at but my step dad dose not want to do it the right way should I let him dig his own hole after I give him the information that you guys game me confirming what I thought was true

also on a side note while finding the timing plug found another one like that is just hanging it has a purple wire on it it kind of looks like the timing plug and the o2 sensor plug any idea on what it is

this is on a 92 C-1500 extended cab short bed 350 guy ordered a crate engine I have a part 2 to this question the instructions say on first start up to hold rpm between 2100 and 2500 rpm for half a hour to break in the flat tappet cam should we do that first or base timing first
