if it wasn't for the gap under the body with the steps on it it would look factory i would say leave them on and install gap guards and a better receiver hitch

Thanks guys, i think im going to put them back on and see how I like them. Il have to get some new bolts considering I had to break every one of them to get them off the first time haha. I rounded up some old conveyer belt for gap guards and might just take the hitch off for the time being until i can find a hitch that mounts higher for a good price.

Just an FYI I had fiberglass ones on my truck (97) and it rotted out my cab corners and rockers, so keep that in mind because we live in states where they use salt on the roads during winter......

Good point, that was one of the main reasons i pulled them off in the first place.. I can probably get away with it if i keep it clean under there though.

Personally, i dont care for that style step, for 2 reasons. 1. I dont like how they look, thats my opinion though. 2. salt and dirt builds up in between those style steps and your rocker panels causing them to rust alot faster. In my opinion you should get a set of tube style steps, i think they look tougher, and they dont cause any kind of build up.

What?!?! Those are grandpa steps why didn't any one tell me, those are what I have on my truck?!?! I hate them too, I just hate the wife bitching she can't get in with out them more... And they do hide the frame really well, good looking truck by the way I love the color.

No steps in my opinion. As far as seeing the frame, it's what happens with a body lift, a choice you make when putting it in. Just fill in the bed gaps and go with it, especially since you said the frames been painted up. Looks more aggressive without the steps. My body lift was already on my truck when I bought it so I didn't have a choice. Never been a fan of em but it's grown on me. Your truck is sweet btw.

Thanks man, kind of an old thread but I ended up leaving them off and now I think Im going to sell my toolbox to my roommate and throw on a set of nfab steps to clean up the look a bit. Heres a photoshop of what Im thinkin except steps will be gloss black not gray or whatever they look like.
