So I'm swapping my '89 k1500 from a solid bench to a 40/60. I was looking at both seats, and I think I might be able to mount the 40/60 to the solid bench frame and not poke holes through the cab. Is that doable?

Possibly...but then the two parts of the 60/40 won't be able to move separately.
