Ok the lt1 swap might be put a way. I found a good deal on a 400. If its an original motor what heads and casting number do I need to look for. Also what casting numbers will be on the block. I'm thinking they may be double humps. He's throwing in a 480 lift jegs cam intake and lifters for 550.00. Motor was pulled from a DD impala.

It should have one of the following.333882 3973493 3998997,the block casting depending on year might be 330817.I think the heads are 72cc or 76cc,The heads are smogger trash.personally i wouldnt buy a 400sb too old,bad design.Find a nice a 96-00 3/4 chevy/gmc/truck/van with a 4 bolt main,roller cam.

Poor design? I was told by a engine builder around here that a mild 400 can make more torque and power than a strong built 350. Is this true? Also the same guy with the 400 has a rolling assembly 350 bored 40 over. He said everything is new and the block just needs to be bored. No cam no heads or anything for the same price.
