repurpose the fuel pump relay? Is there a better relay to use?

I have a mechanical fuel pump diesel now, but I need a relay for keeping the fuel solenoid open. I was thinking I could use the factory fuel pump relay. Does this sound like a bad idea? if so, why? Is there a better relay to use to keep my fuel solenoid open?
